Fast-Track Your Deep-Tech Startup: Apply for the WIDERA Pre-Accelerator via Catalyze

The EIC Pre‑Accelerator (WIDERA) is a cutting-edge pilot initiative under the EU’s Horizon Europe. It’s specifically designed to amplify innovation from early-stage deep-tech startups in “widening countries”—regions that typically face lower research and innovation support. The goal is to elevate these startups’ technology readiness (from TRL 4+) while sharpening their business and investment readiness. Successful applicants receive up to €500,000 in funding and expert guidance.

The Catalyze Group Edge

Catalyze Group plays a vital role as an official partner in this initiative, offering deep strategic support throughout the application journey:

  • Guidance on crafting a compelling pitch—they advise startups on the optimal 15-slide format needed to raise their chances
  • In-house expertise on grant strategy, project planning, financial preparation, and regulatory compliance
  • A proven track record: Catalyze-supported teams consistently deliver strong results in EIC funding rounds

Working with Catalyze gives applicants a distinct advantage in securing funding.

Who Can Apply?

Eligible applicants must be:

  • Registered as single-person SMEs in Horizon Europe widening countries
  • Developing breakthrough deep-tech innovations at Technology Readiness Level 4 or higher
  • Holding essential intellectual property (e.g., patent rights) and aiming to scale and bring innovations to market

What’s Up for Grabs?

  • A one-time grant between €300,000 and €500,000, covering 70% of project costs—the remaining 30% is covered by the startup itself
  • Funding supports activities like technology validation, market modeling, IP management, and real-world testing
  • Applicants who succeed can seamlessly progress to EIC Accelerator funding or attract private investment

Application Details & Deadline

To apply, submit a pitch deck (max 15 slides) directly to Catalyze. This initial submission starts the process toward securing funding.

  • Deadline: September 16, 2025
